?The report studies the properties and characterizations of minimal elements in C*-algebras. Firstly we devoted to B-minimal hermitian matrices, where B is a C*-subalgebra of Mn(C). By means of unitary diagonalization, a constructive method to obtain all B-minimal hermitian matrices is introduced. Secondly, W(H)-minimal hermitian compact operators on a separable Hilbert space H are studied, and the necessary and sufficient conditions for hermitian compact operators to be W(H)-minimal are characterized, where W(H) is a C*-subalgebra of the compact operator algebra K(H). At last we aim at non-hermitian B-minimal elements in a C*-algebra A, where B is a C*-subalgebra of A. Moreover, the connections among minimal elements, witness and positive modification are stated. As an application, it is proved that the unilateral shift operators are minimal related to the algebra of diagonal bounded linear operators.

報告人簡介：

蔣立寧，北京理工大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)與統(tǒng)計學(xué)院教授，博士生導(dǎo)師，“新世紀教育部優(yōu)秀人才”。1999年畢業(yè)于北京大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)院，獲博士學(xué)位；1999年至2001年，任清華大學(xué)高等研究中心博士后研究員；研究方向：泛函分析和算子代數(shù)。主持國家自然科學(xué)基金項目2項，參與國家自然科學(xué)基礎(chǔ)項目3項。在國際知名期刊《algebra》、《Proc Amer Math Soc》、《?Jour Math Anal Appl》、《Science in China》、《Acta Math Sinica (English), Acta Math》發(fā)表論文數(shù)篇。
